Review: STOCKHOLM Line

December 5, 2007 ~ Reviews

The Ikea Blog reader Elaine was kind enough to send me her review of the STOCKHOLM line:

I visited the Orlando, FL store last week. I especially wanted to check out the Stockholm line. The leather and slipcovered versions of the sofa are gorgeous to look at, but very uncomfortable. The main problem for me was the seat width. I am 5′4″ tall and my friend is 5′8″. We both sat on both the sofas and the oversized chair. When we sat with our behinds all the way back against the back of the sofa, our mid-calves were resting on the edge of the seat where our knees should have been. I think these pieces would be comfortable only for someone well over 6 feet tall. Also the seat cushions are very flat, only about 3 inches thick. The leather is very attractive and appears to be high end, so it justifies the cost…but the overall design, in my opinion, doesn’t work well for people of average height.

I would be interested to see anyone else’s review.

Maybe it is just my preference, but I love a wide, low sofa. (I am currently enjoying the last legs of my 8 year old Nikkala.) The Stockholm upholstered sofas were lovely to look at and long and wide, which made them comfortable to lie on as well as curl up on.

I found the high arms to be the biggest problem, not being able to comfortably reach them when sitting normally. It is a slight stretch to get your arms up that far.

All in all, it is one of our top picks for a new sofa right now.

I don’t think the seats were made for someone who is really, but for people who like deep couches. I love deep couches because you can put tons of pillows on them. Also they give you plenty of space to stretch out and watch a good movie with your boy toy. It just depends on what purpose your couch will have.
